Our Story
It Started With Our Own Old Dogs
Long before there was a You Old Dog, they were simply our dogs.
We raised them from puppies, watched them become part of the rhythm of family life, adapted as they grew older and eventually faced the hardest part of loving them — saying goodbye.
Somewhere along the way, we realised just how scattered the information could be when an older dog suddenly needed something different.
Which bed would really help? Should that change in behaviour worry us? Was there something we could do to make getting around easier? And when the difficult days eventually came, where could we turn for clear, compassionate guidance?
You Old Dog grew from those experiences.
Over the years, our family has had the privilege of sharing life with dogs through every stage — the energetic puppy years, the routines of adulthood, the grey hairs and the quieter senior years.
With age came changes. We adjusted our homes, changed routines, paid closer attention and learned that sometimes the smallest things could make the biggest difference.
We also learned that caring for an ageing dog is about much more than products.
It’s about Comfort. Confidence. Dignity. Connection. And making the most of the time you still have together.
Those experiences still influence every decision we make about what belongs on You Old Dog — and what doesn’t.
The Resource We Wish We’d Had
When our own dogs were ageing, we often wished there was one trusted place that brought everything together.
Not an endless pet catalogue. Not pages of conflicting advice. And not somewhere interested only in selling us the next thing.
We wanted practical information we could understand, carefully chosen solutions we could trust, and guidance that recognised just how important these old dogs had become to our family.
So that is what we are building.
You Old Dog is the resource we wish we’d had — created to help other families navigate the later years with a little more confidence, a little less searching and a lot more time enjoying their old dog.
